My name is Karen Roberts and I qualified as a beauty therapist in 2003 gaining my higher national diploma from Dundee College. Once qualified I worked full time in two busy salons over a seven-year period which helped me gain experience and confidence. I always had the urge to be my own boss and with support from my husband and family, I became self-employed.

I started as a mobile beauty therapist (which was hard work and physically required me to carry my equipment & beauty bed to each house) but I loved it and enjoyed the freedom. After spending all day, every day (and until midnight sometimes) working with clients – and the travel – I decided that I needed a base to work from instead and after converting my home garage in 2010, I’ve never looked back.

Under the name Lady Tonic (formally Karen Roberts Beauty), I strive to be as professional as possible and offer my clients the best and most up-to-date treatments available. Lady Tonic is always expanding as I develop new skills throughout the year.

My entire career has been in the beauty industry and my ambition was always to be one who could teach my skills to others in the way that I experienced. I have previously taught in a college environment gaining my teaching qualification. I enjoy passing my skills and knowledge onto others I find teaching to be extremely rewarding.

My love of teaching is the driving force behind Lady Tonic’s offering of private accredited courses. In addition, in 2021 I launched a range of products under the brand name Eye Tonic which will be utilised in both my online & in-person Eye training courses.

With a passion for skincare we are now adding advanced skincare courses to our training academy which include:

The courses that Lady Tonic offers have been carefully developed by myself to provide as much content and knowledge as possible. My aim is to make students feel confident when they complete these courses, complete with support at every stage. This aspect is what I feel is most important as no question is too small.

In the past, I’ve completed different training courses and felt disappointed, unsure and ultimately not confident when performing treatments and these experiences is what led me to develop my own.

Lady Tonic’s courses can either be bought & completed online at your own pace or in-salon at my intimate & welcoming studio where you’ll have my undivided attention along with another student to allow you to work on each other.
