5 Tips for Your Beauty Business
Small Business Checklist
Most beauty therapists are considered to be a small business. And most small business owners are often too busy actually working and providing services to clients, that the business side of their company gets pushed to the side.
But it’s useful every now and then to take a step back and assess your business and where it’s heading. Here are 5 easy ways you can do that!
Decide what you want to achieve
Whether you’re just starting out as a beauty therapist or aesthetician, or you’ve been working for a while, it’s always good having an idea in your head of what you exactly want to achieve. That could be offering particular treatments, securing a number of clients or financial goals. There are lots of free business plan templates available online that are useful for doing this and keeping track of your achievements.
Work on your craft
You should always be working on your skills, even if you’ve trained to the highest standard. Keeping your skills refreshed is important to making sure you offer the very best service possible. Some training providers offer refresher courses for qualified therapists which are useful.
Learn something new
Adding to your skillset is always a good idea. The more treatments you can offer, the wider your clientbase. But, remember to make sure you train to a high standard in each service, and don’t just train in something for the sake of it - do it because you want to. Also keep ahead of the latest beauty trends and treatments, and be the first therapist to offer them in your area.
You’ll find plenty of IPHM accredited training providers in our directory offering lots of beauty and aesthetic training courses.
Reach out to peers
Don’t see other therapists in your local area as just competition, instead see them as peers and a community. You’re all in the same position - communicate more! Share what works, what doesn’t and anything else you think may be useful. If you’re not able to do a treatment a client wants, suggest another therapist - that way you’ll build a fantastic reputation for your business.
Be better than yesterday
This could be improving or adding to your services, becoming more creative with marketing, being better with time management, or being more organised with your admin. Being better than yesterday means something different to everyone, but is a good way to start your day!
